The wnaspi32.dll file represents an ASPI (Advanced SCSI Programming Interface) driver which allows burning pieces of software to recognize and handle CD/DVD burners. WNASPI can only be copied in the application directory but not in a system directory.

Errors related to wnaspi32.dll can arise for a few different different reasons. For instance, a faulty application, wnaspi32.dll has been deleted or misplaced, corrupted by malicious software present on your PC or a damaged Windows registry.

In the vast majority of cases, the solution is to properly reinstall wnaspi32.dll on your PC, to the Windows system folder. Alternatively, some programs, notably PC games, require that the DLL file is placed in the game/application installation folder.

Errors related to the wnaspi32.dll file are commonly occurring when a program is running, starting-up or even when "Microsoft Windows" is starting-up or shutting-down. If you are having trouble with wnaspi32.dll your pc will become slower, and unreliable. Programs may shut-down unexpected and cause data-loss.

Follow my guide, -2853368/reduce-windows-size.html Reduce Windows 7 OS Size - all versions - Windows 7,(slightly outdated with RT 7 settings, see above to download, you'll manually go through and check off things, services I've labeled in english..)

The file wnaspi32.dll is a 32bit Windows DLL module for frogaspi.dll or other related programs. The file and the associated frogaspi.dll software was developed by Frog ASPI / Millenod. The file was licensed as Bertrand Danos (Millenod).

To fix the error, you need to copy the missing wnaspi32.dll file to your system or replace the corrupted dll file with a working one by following the instructions below. There are 5 different versions of the dll file available for download with sizes between 32KB - 1.74MB.

You can download wnaspi32.dll for free from the download section on this page. After downloading the zip file, unzip it to a convenient location on your computer. In order to fix dll related errors, you need to copy the .dll file to the installation folder of the application/game, or install .dll file directly to Windows (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 10).

Version info for Windows 2000 should show the middle two files listed as v4.60 [like this], or at least that's what the aspiinst.pdf file says that comes with the latest ASPI layer drivers [v4.71.2]. If your ASPI-installation info doesn't look like this, it doesn't mean there is anything necessarily wrong with your system configuration. But if you're having trouble ripping or burning, I might be able to help.

Note: In order to get wowpost.exe and winaspi.dll updated to the latest version, I had to rename the two files in the 'adaptec' folder: wowpost.ex_ becomes wowpost.exe, and winaspi.dl_ becomes winaspi.dll. Then I manually copied these two files to my \system folder. But first I renamed the current ones to wowpost_old.exe and winaspi_old.dll, so I could go back if I had any problems. I got this tip from Hendrick. Steve Ryan writes to say:

Force ASPI will also *back-up* your current ASPI configuration. So, if you encounter problems, you can easily restore your original ASPI drivers. The command *dumpASPI* creates a backup of your existing ASPI layer. You can also back-up your current ASPI configuration by copying files [individually] listed above to a back-up directory of your choosing [such as aspi_old].

What are ASPI, SPTI and SPTD? Why should I have wnaspi32.dll shipped with my software? Is there any way to avoid this? ASPI stands for "Advanced SCSI Programming Interface" and it was standard way for accessing SCSI devices under early versions of Windows. Later ATAPI (and other interface) devices got SCSI-like interface and it was easy to have single way of programming them at low level. Starting from Windows NT ASPI support was dropped by Microsoft (and replaced with SPTI, stands for "SCSI Pass-Through Interface") but a lot of people found easier to have ONE way of coding for all of the supported operating systems then just treat every single OS in the other way. So if you need Windows 95/98/Me line of the operating systems - please stick with ASPI and use StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_Create(...) API call to create burning device object. Windows 95/98/Me has ASPI stack built-in and you may use Rocket Division Software ASPI layer as redistributable WnASPI32.dll file shipped together with your software if you run it under Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/7/2012/8/2016/10. Please note that other ASPI layers may work with StarBurn and may not work with StarBurn. We've been tested with own one and Adaptec ASPI layers only. However if you don't plan to use old and unsupported by OS vendor itself systems and want to stick with NT-like operating systems (NT itself, XP, Vista and Longhorn) only use StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_CreateEx(...) API call. It would end with SPTI calls finally. In such a case you don't need WnASPI32.dll at all! Also there's third way to send commands to the device and we recommend it. Through the special filter driver called SPTD (SCSI Pass-Through Direct). It has a great feature of hiding all of the data traffic between application and raw device. So it's nearly impossible to trace it and break the burning process (quite a lot of poorly designed software like ant viruses and other burning applications can do this). Just install SPTD layer shipped with StarBurn SDK and use StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_CreateExEx(...) API call to create your burner object. Also you need to ship file sptdintf.dll with your software. So, if other burning software forces you to stick with only one of the programming interfaces to talk to raw device - StarBurn know THREE different ways to do this. And you can pick up the one working for you in the best way. Please see FindDevice, FindDeviceEx and FindDeviceExEx samples from "Samples\StarBurn Core\C" for more of the details.

You require a Windows Vista 64 bit file (all explained on the web page) plus you do require Vuescan. It provides the driver everyone is looking for but windows will not accept it without this brilliant work around.
